03.23.16 – The North Carolina state Legislature has passed HB 2 – Gloria Allred reacts to the new legislation

I strongly condemn this new law which restricts the rights of gay, lesbian and transgender individuals in North Carolina by failing to include them as a protected class under state law and by prohibiting cities in that state from passing ordinances protecting those individuals who are forced to suffer discrimination on account of their sexual orientation or sexual identity. North Carolina is on the wrong side of history and has disgraced itself with the passage of this law. It is a blatant act of discrimination to deny expansion of rights, respect and dignity to those who need and deserve them. This law is an outrage that must be reversed.
