On May 4, 2009, Gloria Allred and her co-counsel John Deily filed a petition on behalf of Paul Petersen asking the court to appoint a guardian to protect the financial interests of the octuplets. A motion to dismiss the petition was filed on behalf of the octuplets’ mother, Nadya Suleman. On Aug. 21, 2009, the court issued a ruling denying Suleman’s motion to dismiss the petition, and invited the Department of Social Services to conduct an investigation and file a report with the court.

Attorney Gloria Allred asks for an investigation into what she alleged were violations of labor laws and regulations in the filming of two of Nadya Suleman’s babies. As a result of the investigation, California labor officials issued numerous citations for violations of the law.
