12.05.14 – Today Gloria Allred and her client Judy Huth went to the Los Angeles Police Department to meet with detectives of the LAPD to request an investigation of Mr. Cosby. Gloria believes that this is an important investigation and LAPD Chief Charlie Beck has clearly indicated that regardless of when the alleged offense occurred, if it happened in the City of LA, he will investigate the claim. She also urges others to go to the LAPD if they believe that they have been victimized by Mr. Cosby.
12.03.14 – At the press conference Ms. Allred proposed what she believes will be the best way for all of the women who allege that they were victims of Bill Cosby to obtain justice in this matter, and especially those women whose lawsuits may be dismissed because of the statute of limitations. Ms. Allred’s new and specific proposals will, in her opinion, also be fair to Bill Cosby. She challenged Mr. Cosby to end this nightmare for both him and the alleged victims by accepting either of the options which she proposed.
11.21.14 – On November 12, 2014 the Inspector General for the city of New Orleans released a shocking report indicating that the Special Victims Unit for the City of New Orleans and particularly five detectives that were in that unit had failed to properly investigate hundreds of cases involving allegations of rape and various forms of sexual abuse. Today I am here to meet with Commander Paul Noel with our client who made a report that she was raped in her hotel room in March 2014 during Mardi Gras. Our client came to New Orleans with her husband from Texas. They stayed at a local hotel. On the night of Mardi Gras, at a time when her husband was out of the room, our client alleges that she was forcibly raped by a security guard employed by the hotel. The detective that was assigned to investigate her case was one of the five detectives named in the Inspector General’s report. We will not rest until there is justice in this case and the perpetrator has been arrested and prosecuted.
11.11.14 – Today Ms. Allred announced that this morning she filed a lawsuit in the United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan on behalf of five boys (3 represented by their mothers since they are still minors) against the Grand Rapids public school district (GRPSD) and numerous officials of GRPSD. She alleges that they failed to provide a safe and equal educational environment at Grand Rapids University Prep Academy (GRUPA) and that they were deliberately indifferent and unreasonable in their response to teacher on student sexual assault and sexual harassment of students in violation of state law and Title IX which guarantees equal educational opportunity.
11.07.14 – Sean Patrick Banks was sentenced today to 37 years to life for raping women he met through online dating sites. Gloria Allred was in court with her client Katie Kuhlman who was one of his victims. Ms. Kuhlman gave her victim impact statement to the court and explained how this event has affected her life. Allred told reporters that she and Kuhlman “want other potential victims to be aware of the risk of online dating. We don’t want what happened to Katie to happen to anyone else.”
11.05.14 – At “Dream School: NYC” kids who are the hardest to reach via a traditional school curriculum receive lessons firsthand from leaders in various fields. Dream School takes a class of students who have dropped out or have been expelled from the conventional school system and offers them a real chance to graduate. Ms. Allred’s lesson engages the students in how legal studies impact their own lives and forces them to debate current hot button issues. The students learn the art of debate and arguing their points from a legal stand point.
10.31.14 – On Wednesday October 29, 2014 our clients, their mothers and we as their lawyers, met with representatives of Universal Studios Hollywood. Top level executives at Universal Studios Hollywood attended. They heard what happened at their Halloween Horror Night from our clients, Kayla Beals and Roxy Fisher who are 13 year old girls. They listened carefully as the girls expressed how they felt. They indicated that what happened was wrong and that they have taken measures to make sure that it would never happen again. We are very happy with the result that we obtained because we feel that our clients were heard and that changes were made.
10.22.14 – Kayla Beals and Roxy Fisher, age 13, went to Halloween Horror Night at Universal Studios expecting to have fun in the mazes and haunted house. Instead the night was horrifying for them for other reasons. A woman on stage called them out over a microphone allegedly saying “I know you are a bunch of whores”. “I am just going to call you Slut 1 and Slut 2 and Slut 3.” The young girls were then auctioned off to the crowd and as they were leaving the area in complete shock the woman called after them saying something to the effect that the girls should get down on their hands and knees as she knew this was a position they were used to. After repeated attempts over the last three weeks to get a meeting or a response from Universal’s Guest Relations and filing a complaint on line, one mother was told that if she wanted a meeting she would have to buy a ticket, and that they were sold out. Gloria and her clients want a meeting with Universal Studios so that they can enunciate their standards for treatment of women and girls. Is Universal going to continue to approve and endorse this kind of victimization?
10.21.14 – Today New York’s highest court, the New York Court of Appeals, reversed the lower court’s opinion and vindicated our position that statements made by James Boheim, Head Basketball Coach at Syracuse, in response to our clients allegations that they had been molested by Coach Bernie Fine are actionable. This means our client can have their day in court.

10.01.14 – The NFL responds to Ms. Allred’s Press Conference of 09.29.14 announcing the letter that she delivered to the NFL alleging the rape of her client by an NFL player. The NFL offers to set up a meeting in New York with an NFL representative to “obtain more information on the matter”. The meeting is scheduled to take place on Wednesday October 8, 2014.
09.29.14 – In the letter, she explained to Commissioner Goodell that she represents a young woman who alleged that she had been raped by an NFL player and that on September 20, 2014, shortly after the rape, her client reported what she said occurred to the police in the jurisdiction where she alleges that the rape took place. Gloria also explained to the Commissioner that her client was told that the accused NFL player was contacted by the police and appeared at the police station with a representative of his NFL team. The next day, he was permitted to and played with his NFL team. Gloria asked the Commissioner if the alleged rape of her client was reported to the NFL, and if so, when it was reported? If it was not reported to the NFL, why was the Commissioner not informed?

09.17.14 – Today Gloria Allred held a press conference with Kristeena Spivey and Clarence Watley. Both addressed acts of violence that had been committed against best friend and daughter Rasheedah Watley for over three years by Broncos NFL player Brandon Marshall. Kristeena and Clarence spoke out about contacting Commissioner Roger Goodell by telephone and mail to report the incidents of physical violence . Neither of them ever heard back from Mr. Goodell. They assert that the NFL and Goodell failed them. Ms. Allred discussed the meaningful changes that Commissioner Goodell needs to make in order to insure a process that is fair to victims.
09.04.14 – Today we filed a lawsuit in the Los Angeles Superior Court against Floyd Mayweather, Jr. His ex- fiancée, our client Ms. Shantel Jackson, discussed her relationship with Mr. Mayweather, her feelings about him and why she found it necessary to end her relationship and file this lawsuit. The lawsuit alleges invasion of privacy, battery, assault, defamation and emotional distress among other things. We seek to hold Mr. Mayweather legally accountable in a court of law for his many acts of misconduct targeted at Ms. Jackson.
08.27.14 – Gloria Allred announced today the filing of a lawsuit in Orange County Superior Court on behalf of Frank Bernard. Mr. Bernard legally married his same sex spouse, Carl, in California on June 30, 2008. “We are suing Ilitch Holding, Inc. and Little Caesar Enterprises because Mr. Bernard an employee of Ilitch Holdings, Inc. and Little Caesar Enterprises was denied health insurance and other benefits for his spouse solely on account of his sexual orientation specifically because he was not married to a spouse of the opposite sex. Our lawsuit alleges that Mr. Bernard has been discriminated against because of his sexual orientation in violation of California Government Code Section 12940. We are also suing for Constructive Wrongful Termination in Violation of Public Policy.”

08.17.14 – Ms. Allred was the first attorney in California to challenge the ban on same gender marriage as being unconstitutional in California. She filed a lawsuit on behalf of a lesbian and gay couple in 2004 and litigated marriage equality cases for six years, going to the California Supreme Court twice. As a result her clients, a lesbian couple, were the first couple to be permitted to be married in Los Angeles County. This is the first time that Ms. Allred will actually perform a marriage ceremony.
07.21.14 – Alvin Ray Quarles (a.k.a. “Bolder Than Most Rapist”) had been convicted of four counts of rape, six counts of burglary with intent to commit a felony, and two counts of robbery. He was sentenced to fifty years but one of the victims learned last year, to her shock and horror, that he was scheduled to be released early after having only served half of his sentence. After that victim made that fact public, the D.A.’s office filed a petition to civilly commit him to a state mental hospital rather than release him. That trial was scheduled for tomorrow, but in another surprise move the rapist made a decision last week not to proceed to trial and instead to admit to the allegations of the petition that he is a sexually violent predator. At the news conference the victims who were preparing to testify at the trial reacted to the rapist’s decision. They and Ms. Allred discussed their plans for future action regarding Mr. Quarles.
07.18.14 – On November 1, 2013 a lawsuit was filed against the UConn in federal court in Hartford CT on behalf of rape or sexual assault victims who were students or former students of UConn. Today the settlement of the lawsuit on behalf of the named plaintiffs Carolyn Luby, Kylie Angell, Erica Daniels, Rosemary Richi and Sylvana Moccia was announced. The settlement requires UConn to compensate the plaintiffs a total amount of $1,285,000. The lawsuit alleged that UConn had discriminated against the plaintiffs on the basis of their gender and retaliated against them in violation of Title IX, a federal law which prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex and which guarantees equal educational opportunity to students at educational institutions which receive federal funds, such as the University of Connecticut. In a joint press statement with UConn, UConn has acknowledged the plaintiff’s roles in inspiring important public conversation regarding the issue of sexual violence.

This year she is joined by her client Shear Avory and his mom Amber Baker. Shear is a hero for standing up against discrimination in the Los Angeles Unified School District (see press conference June 6, 2014).
06.06.14 – Attorney Gloria Allred, her teenage client James Anthony Scott a.k.a. Shear Avory and the boy’s mother Amber held a news conference today, Friday June 6, 2014 in Los Angeles to announce the filing of a lawsuit against the LAUSD school district which the boy and his mother contend failed to protect him after he tried to stop an autistic child from being bullied. The teenager was severely and continuously bullied himself because he is gay. Shear was called faggot and in addition there was a threat on his life. He alleges that the administration failed to act to stop the bullying and then later took action which both Ms. Allred, Shear and his mother feel was completely ineffective, not appropriate and which they allege was in violation of his rights.
06.05.14 – Nearly a dozen women say a former teacher, Mr. Bob Rusch, sexually abused a succession of girls while they were students at the now-closed Woodward School in New York. Today some of the women described directly how it impacted them and asked for accountability and change. Ms. Allred explained what she thinks should be done in light of the women’s allegations. She called on PolyPrep, who acquired Woodward, to do the right thing for these victims.
05.12.14 – Gloria Allred shares her letter to Commissioner Silver. Ebony Jones describes the horrific conditions endured by her late mother, Kandynce Jones, while living in the Ardmore Apartments owned by Mr. Sterling. Kandynce, who was 66 years old, blind, paralyzed on one side and suffering from sickle cell anemia and high blood pressure, died while courageously fighting back against Mr. Sterling’s racist effort to evict her and other persons of color from their apartments. 03.17.14 – Today Kanye West entered a plea in the L.A. County Superior Court of no contest to one count of battery. The count of attempted grand theft for which he was also being prosecuted was dismissed as part of the plea bargain. We are glad that West did enter a plea, but given all of the facts and circumstances, we do think that the sentence handed down today was not sufficient. We plan to continue with our civil lawsuit to make sure that Mr. West is held accountable in that case.

04.27.24 AP - Retrial of Harvey Weinstein unlikely to occur soon, if ever, experts say. The daunting path to a new trial was clear Friday when Miriam Haley, one of two women at the heart of the charges against Weinstein, said during an electronic news conference that she "will consider testifying again, should there be another trial," but declined to commit to a new trial when questioned further about it. During the news conference with her lawyer, Gloria Allred, Haley said the appeals ruling was "a terrible decision that sends an extremely disheartening message to victims of sexual assaults everywhere."
03.16.24 World Time Todays - "Samantha Geimer believes victims are anti-feminist." Samantha Geimer was 13 when she was raped by film director, Roman Polanski, in 1977. The attack has followed both Geimer and Polanski throughout their lives and Geimer has developed seemingly unorthodox beliefs about her abuser over the decades. In an interview with Polanski's wife, Emmanuelle Seigner, Geimer claims the #MeToo movement can humiliate women by labeling them as victims, stating "I don't understand what's so feminist about being a victim." Not all of Polanski's victims take the same stance as Geimer, including victim, Jane Doe, who filed her lawsuit against Polanski with her attorney, Gloria Allred, in Los Angeles in March of 2024.
03.05.24 The Ada Herald - British actress Charlotte Lewis on Tuesday accused filmmaker Roman Polanski of raping her as a teenager and said she had become the victim of a "smear campaign" after she spoke up about it. "It nearly destroyed my life," the 56-year-old told a criminal court in the French capital, which is hearing a defamation case against the film director. Polanski, who was not present at Tuesday's hearing, faces charges that he defamed Lewis after she accused him of abusing her in the 1980s. In 2010, Lewis said she decided to speak out to counter suggestions from Polanski's legal team that the 1977 rape case was an isolated incident. She spoke in the Los Angeles offices of Gloria Allred, a high-profile attorney who has also represented women accusing US producer Harvey Weinstein, sitcom star Bill Cosby and former US president Donald Trump.

Hannah Gutierrez-Reed's trial over the fatal Rust movie shooting began Thursday February 22, 2024, with dramatic audio of the shooting victims and accusations of "sloppy" safety protocols. Gutierrez-Reed, the film's armorer, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and evidence tampering after allegedly handing off a bag of cocaine on the day of the shooting. Alec Baldwin, the actor who fired the gun that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, has also been charged with involuntary manslaughter. On Thursday the 22nd of February, the family of late cinematographer Halyna Hutchins earned a legal victory when Baldwin lost his bid to dismiss a wrongful death lawsuit brought by her family and their attorney, Gloria Allred.
